Key job responsibilities

• Assist with compliance of local, state, and federal environmental regulations;
• Assist in driving an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;
• Assist and support thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
• Lead, coordinate and supervise the activities of waste coordinators at the site;
• Prioritize and manage multiple assignments concurrently;
• Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies during inspections;
• Work collaboratively with other Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) Team in BR, contractors and consultants to ensure compliance and conformance with the Amazon Environmental System;
• Drive the completion of environmental incident investigations;
• Assist with managing and handling regulated waste programs;
• Tracking of air emissions and other Key Operational metrics related to environmental performance;
• Assist with spill clean-ups and emergency response.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree required (candidates in final year of studies will be considered);
• Experience serving as an environmental technical resource or program specialist;
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Windows Operating Systems, and Environmental Management Systems;
• Experience and ability to dive deep with engineering teams to understand operations process for environmental risk assessment;
• Knowledge of Brazilian environmental regulations;
• Experience engaging with Regulatory Agency in permit application.
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical or environmental engineering, or environmental science or related field of study;
  • Preferred advanced English.
