Responsabilities

  • Provide support, communication, coordination and advice of HSE practices, systems and procedures within multiple defined workplaces.
  • Administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within multiple defined workplaces
  • Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for occupational health and safety committee members and first aid officers
  • Conduct risk assessments, HSE audits and workplace inspections
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of site safety documentation
  • Provide direction and support to both Project and Service Teams alike to develop and implement adequate HSE systems and programs within multiple defined workplaces
  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health and safety.
  • Coordinate and conduct investigations to find the causes and identify mitigation strategies to prevent re-occurrence, which may include liaison with regulatory officials.
  • To provide HSE specialist advice and technical input to material handling systems design and layout, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations/risks are identified and communicated appropriately
  • Conduct return-to-work coordinator activities
  • The Coordinator will create and adjust all entries into the Industry Safe system, looking for accuracy of the data and any trends and reporting that can be done with the data or any other safety-related information.  The Coordinator will review the data and make sure all issues are tracked, countermeasures established, and issues closed.
  • Work closely with supervisors, management and employees within the organization to ensure the safety of workers at all times.
  • Carry out safety checks and inspections within the workplace so as to identify situations that are unsafe and/or hazardous in nature and take action or recommend corrective measures to be taken so as to avoid accidents.
  • Maintain required safety and health documents/files.
  • Conduct Safety Toolbox Talks
  • Lead the Site’s Safety Committee
  • The coordinator will take an active role in HSE training and for safety-related items such as emergency supplies and PPE.
  • Use analytical skills to examine trends and develop processes that are proactive in nature to solve negative trends and issues.
  • Monitor Inspection/audit reports, monitor Corrective Actions for follow up and completion, coordinate and monitor tracking of training, coordinate and organize and documents for site use, etc.
  • Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
  • Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents and related events
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
  • Inspects working conditions to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 5+ years in Safety Management
  • Language level: Portuguese-Native | English and Spanish -Advanced
  • Experience in WH&S/HSE management techniques and tools
  • Strong knowledge of Brazilian safety legislation and safety practices
  • Ability to plan, organise, and supervise HSE operations including conducting and interpreting audits, risk assessments and reviews
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Strong written, verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with normal business-related software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint and auditor safety software.
  • Experience managing a process or procedure requiring a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements,
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
