Your mission will be to

• Member of the global Production Research Leadership Team.  Member of the LATAM Seed Production Leadership team.
• Represents Seed Production in the LATAM Breeding Leadership team.
• Key Seed Production Innovation (SPI) liaison in LATAM, for field/plant research operations.
• Leads and supports Safety and Health initiatives across the LATAM Production Research team.
• Leads the Production Research strategy in the hub; operational & capital resourcing plans, LRP resourcing; gap analyses; in close connection with the overall LATAM Product Supply strategy, crop strategy & pipeline expectations (seeds and traits).
• Secures a successful research structure for the new pipeline (seeds and traits) to deliver the needed recommendations to Seed Production on a timely manner.
• Leads the selection, training and development of people resources and talent within the LATAM row-crop Production Research team.
• Through the interaction with local stakeholders and global Production Research, responsible for developing and prioritizing the research plan within the hub, short term and long term.  This includes parent line and trait research, field production research and plant processing research.
• Drives research projects which enable the expected savings target for LATAM Seeds Production, through partnership with several functions.
• Represents Product Supply at the “crop advancement” processes within the hub (seeds and traits).  Key driver to maximize profitability through lower product cost options.
• Investigates external opportunities for collaboration or investment to enable new tech discovery and development for Product Supply.  Where opportunity may be global in nature, connects with the global teams to develop cross-regional opportunities.
• Works cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders to prioritize projects and resources, refine project scope, expectations, and potential benefit.
• Applies technical expertise to complex challenges impacting Product Supply, from research and development through commercially deployed products.

Requirements

• Must have:
  • Master’s or PhD in Agronomy related field;
  • 10 + years experience in Agricultural research, Seed Production, or Data Science in Ag;
  • Excellent people, managerial and organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication – oral, written, under diverse circumstances and audiences;
  • A track record of successful project delivery and technical team management, preferably in a technical environment;
  • Results driven and capacity to influence within a matrixed organization and across functions;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken) and Portuguese or Spanish.  Expected to participate in forums where these 3 languages will be used exclusively;
  • Availability for local and international travel;
  • Candidates from other locations must be willing to relocate to Uberlândia (MG) – Brazil.
• Nice to have:
  • Strong understanding of Seed Production;
  • Strong understanding of Breeding and Seeds Biotech processes;
  • A solid foundation related to research and data science.
